If you have not viewed the actual statistics on job openings, hires and separations in the United States available from the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, lately… it is worth a peek. Although the data appears to be available only in table format, it certainly doesn’t look as though there has been much difference between last year and this within the Manufacturing industry. There appear to be about 13,000 more Manufacturing Job Openings, which may have led to about 10,000 more hires, but in a nation of millions, how is that significant? When you factor in that 5,000 more people were ‘separated’ from their jobs this year than last, the net additional manufacturing positions filled was… only 5,000.
