27 Types of Drugs Signal Potentially Serious Risks

pillsAccording to the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System, FAERS, 27 types of drugs signaled potentially serious risks between April and June this year.  As of today, October 3rd 2016, 23 of those 27 types of drugs are being evaluated with regard to whether or not regulatory action is needed.  Included among the drugs listed are beta-interferons administered by injection which may lead to drug-induced lupus and dipeptidyl peptidase 4 (DPP-4) inhibitor tablets, used to treat type 2 diabetes, which may lead to pemphigoid, a group of subepidermal, blistering, autoimmune diseases.  It may be worthwhile to view the list and, if a medication you or a loved one uses is on it, pursue possible ways to reduce the likelihood of potential risks.  You can view the list on the FDA website here:  FDA Adverse Drug Effects
